She is an 8 year old spayed female Siberian Husky and needs a good home. I do not want to place an ad on Craigslist, she is too special. My husband and I work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day and our daughter just started college and we cannot give her the love and attention she needs. She is very sweet, mellow and lazy. She never barks, growls or shows any sign of aggression. She does not care for loud noises or horseplay so a home with young rambunctious children would not be a good fit. She gets along well with both large and small dogs but really hates cats. She loves to swim and take short walks. She does not need a lot of room to roam but prefers to have some outdoor space. Sprocket the Labradooski needs a new home, He's about 10 months old, and his dad is Siberian Husky and his mom is Labradoodle (Labrador and Poodle), so we call him a Labradooski. He is super sweet, really friendly and would make a great pet for any home. He gets along well with adults, children, and other dogs. From everything I've read, his personality definitely takes after his dad. He's been fixed and is up to date with all of his shots. I've been working with him on walking with the leash, and I've taught him to sit and shake. We love him, but unfortunately circumstances have changed since we rescued him. Tahoe is cream colored with a beautiful long coat and an interesting combination of eye color with one solid brown eye as well as a blue eye with flecks of brown known as a 'parti' eye. Tahoe knows some basic commands like Sit and is submissive and loving with humans. He is vocal like a husky and looks to be in good health. Tahoe is already neutered and looks to have been someone's well taken care of pet before brought into the shelter as a stray. Info	This very sweet girl was abandoned at a doggy daycare camp. She has been there for some time and was diagnosed with Canine Guardia, which is a parasite which causes runny stools. She has been under a vets care, but is in need of a temporary foster home or permanent home that can help her kick this minor condition which is medically treatable. She has been reinfecting herself by ingesting her feces and we would need a foster home/permanent home to make a commitment to watch her closely while she completes treatment. They decided to foster him when nobody came forward to claim him at the shelter and his leg has healed in their care. However, they are unable to keep him as they are expecting an addition to their family at the end of 01/09 so are looking for a 'forever home' or foster home who can take him in ASAP. Sasha Blue is quite a character ;) Sasha is a wolf like Siberian Husky. He can be independent and aloof as well as highly alert and engaging. Sasha Blue loves to play (preferably with other dogs and humans present) He loves to go on walks as he experiences the world through his nose and loves to stop and smell the roses. He also loves to hike and has been trained on a leash although his shoe fetish sometimes detours him from paying attention to anything but yours or others running shoes :) When not at home he needs to always be on a leash (or you may never catch him) he is an incredible runner and needs to be walked at least once a day. He loves to ride in the car, is very easy going and will go anywhere with you...He LOVES to be included. Sasha Blue is a big kisser, but is not one to be pet a lot. (It seems to tickle him after a while of petting) so if you are looking for a mushy dog who loves to be pet then Sasha may not the guy for you.He has a strong physic and loves to wrestle.. men and strong women tend to love to play with him. Sasha is good in a fenced yard, although he does not posses the normal escape trait's of other huskies. He needs a nice size fenced yard to run in. Sasha tends to sleep inside on his cushioned bed or outside in his doggy den. He is very low maintenance and good on his own, although he likes and prefers company Sasha is the perfect dog if you're looking for a friend to just hang out, relax and watch a game or play play play. Sasha loves to play with all other animals on hikes and on their turf. On walks I see Sasha as the most friendly dog ever and will submiss to all dogs, although at home he tends to enforce his pack leadership and therefore we feel needs to be an "only dog" or with another dog that is an obvious pack leader (so he will submiss) We only recommend he be left alone with dogs that are stronger than him and strong pack leaders and NOT with puppies or smaller dogs. We'd like to introduce you to "Xena" a senior female with lots of life and laughter left to give someone willing to open their hearts and home to her. Xena is a mild mannered 10yr old Malamute, Shes about 70-75pds and shes in great health. She has a slight hip dysphasia, but as long as her weight is down its not bad. She requires at least one semi-long walk per day. Or two short walks. At the moment, she goes on a long ½ mile walk in the morning. Because of her age, she gets tired if you walk her too long, and she doesn¢t do well jogging. She mostly likes laying around, sleeping, and eating. She loves to just lie on the floor besides you while you wander around the house, or in the kitchen to gobble up anything you drop on the floor. Zena loves food, LOVES. She never stops eating. She loves other dogs, but shes an alpha, shes not aggressive, but she does try to dominate. And after the initial meeting with a dog, she kinda does her own thing. Shes very funny, she wants so badly to be with the dogs and then ignores them once shes around them. She is food aggressive but only with other dogs. NEVER with people, not even kids. Ive never once seen her growl at a person. She is crate trained, and house broken. She knows the commands Sit, down, stay, come, out, and kiss. She has had times of separation anxiety symptoms, but that is under control, someone who understands how to handle separation anxiety would be needed so they don¢t return. Or someone who has another dog, her separation anxiety seems to disappear when she lives with another dog. She is very smart and curious, she loves exploring. So she tends to get out alot, a secure house and backyard is needed. When she escapes she comes back easily, she just likes the adventure. For her age she is pretty strong, and if you let her she will pull on leash. (her alpha mentality) I use a gentle leader which works wonders. She is okay off leash, shes been to dog beach and the river and does just fine, though Ive been camping with her and if she sees a furry animal she will take off after it. She has been to dog daycares and fully fenced dog parks and does well. But when she around another alpha it can get tense at times. Never anything serious. Shes great with kids, she lives with a 3year old and a 6year old. She is horrible with small furry animals (that aren¢t dogs), cats, guinea pigs, and rodents. Oddly enough, she¢s fine with birds and chickens and little dogs are her favorites. She doesn¢t bark much, just woos from time to time. She loves playing with toys that squeak and she can rip up, she likes tennis balls, but she doesn¢t play fetch. She loves attention and is very loving and sweet. Meet Luna, frisky, 2 year old, AKC white Siberian husky with piercing ice blue eyes. She enjoys long walks and giving kisses. She is a spayed dominant female. Her previous owners had her as an outside (only) dog but she has quickly warmed up to the home environment. Sadly, she is being re-homed due to her dominant behavior with the males in the home. We have an Akita, Chihuahua and miniature pinscher. She tolerates them well however; she is especially dominant with the Akita. She is minimally food aggressive, but again only with the Akita. She needs a home where she can have rough and tumble play with a submissive male. Her previous owners stated that she does not do to well with cats and we have not had her interact with any. She loves kids and is friendly with new people. Her previous owners had a two year old child. She knows simple commands such as sit, lay down and stay. The owners are reluctantly seeking to rehome her, but agree this is in her best interests due to their present circumstances. Skye has lived with another smaller dog and has been raised with a child. Skye has been spayed, vaccinated and is a typical energetic husky. Probably best suited to a home with older kids and/or children who have been taught proper behavior with dogs, Skye is looking for a new home due to drastic life changes with her Human pack. The ideal home would be someone who realizes that Huskies are not pets to abandon in the backyard and need the company of their pack to be happy. Typical of the breed, she has a high prey drive so no cats or other small animals. Skye is takes a while to warm up to strangers, gets along well with male dogs, but has experienced dominance issues with stranger smaller dogs and females. Info	This pretty white BOY with blue eyes has been in the Central shelter on 5480 Gaines street for almost a month now. He was originally categorized as a female, but has since been found to be a neutered MALE. His real name is Kana. Kana has been depressed and not eating so has lost much weight in the month he's been in the shelter. A quiet dog who is stoic, Kana seems to realize time is running out. He has a quiet grace and would make a good pet for someone who is willing to be patient and allow him to bloom. Kana did fine with other dogs during our assessment and showed some playfulness as time went on. Takes treats nicely with a soft mouth and no aggressive behavior with other dogs even with food around. We feel that out of the shelter, Kana is a wonderful pet who is bewildered and sad from being stuck at the shelter this long. Unfortunately, she was petrified and snapped at all the kennel officers the first day though she soon adjusted and was handleable days later. But because of her first snapping, "SnowFlake" became in need of rescue. She's settled in fine with mult dogs and children. She's a typical hell-on-wheels 4 month old husky pup with baby teeth and horrible manners. Snowflake is NOT housebroken and is in need of a home to teach her good manners like not chewing on people's hands and not jumping up on people and furniture. Info	Please note that this a private adoption and this dog is not covered by SanDiegoHuskies.com rescue policies as such. Nebo was in a Los Angeles shelter since 8/28. Nebo was rescued by a Good Samaritan who came to the shelter on the day that was to be Nebo's last (11/15). Even though he lives in an apartment, he decided to rescue him as a short term foster because of his living circumstances and Nebo's immediate need. Nebo is microchipped, but the owners never responded (per shelter report). Nebo's ears were eaten by flies, but were treated while in the shelter. This is a common symptom of dogs neglected in backyards. Nebo has all of his shots and has been neutered. He has been very good dog with 2 female dogs he's currently living with and has been crated at night. Nebo is very sweet and wants to be near you and be loved on. He will sit on your lap and give you kisses. It is believed Nebo is around a year old (clean teeth and the pads on feet are still pink- plus he loved to play). Info	This beautiful boy has been at the shelter far too long. "Lance" is a stoic blue eyed(with one parti eye)purebred husky at the South San Diego county shelter in Bonita. He has obviously had some obedience training as he sits/lays down on command and loves to play and run with people. Lance is already neutered and ready to go to a home who knows that huskies need secured yards and exercise. According to shelter staff, Lance is not canine aggressive, but like most huskies would not do well with cats or other small animals. Though a bit skittish at first, Lance quickly warms up with a bit of play and is highly food motivated. This dog is simply too sweet to allow to waste at the shelter. Murry strolled into our lives as a stray. We had every intention of keeping him, however, we have since moved and our current situation does not allow pets ( even if it did, there would not be nearly enough space for him). He is a very fun and loving dog. He's great with children and other dogs. He actually prefers the company of other dogs. When we were in transition for the move, there were cats in the house. He didn't hurt them, however, these cats were pretty tough and took care of their own. It's up to your own discretion if you have cats and you want to take him in. I don't think he would hurt them, but you never know...Huskies love to chase small animals. Murry is house trained, but his ques for needing to go outside are subtle, so you'll need to watch for them. He's very much like a small child that doesn't want to bother you for fear he will get yelled at. He'll tell you once, maybe twice he needs to go, and if you don't catch it... ;0) I truly believe he may have been mistreated in some way before crossing our path. If you raise your voice he will cower. I remember sitting in the house one day and I raised my hand quickly to get my daughter's attention...Murry was sitting right in front of me and coward all the way to the floor. So, as you can see, he will need a family that has a lot of love to give. He loves and craves lots of attention. He adores going for walks. He also knows basic commands like sit, lay down and shake. All in all, Murry is a great family dog...he does have his Husky quirks about him, however. If you are familiar with the breed and even have had these dogs before, he shouldn't be a problem for you. He IS an escape artist. It is imperative you have a secured, fenced yard. I have seen him on occasion dig, however this was at gofer and rabbit holes in the yard. You also NEVER want to let him off the leash outside of a secured area. He WILL take off on you. He takes the chase game seriously and for him it IS a game...the closer you get to catching him, the further he runs. He does eventually come back. Yes, we know this from personal experience....not from letting him off the leash, but from him escaping out the front door. So, be sure to watch for that as you are coming in and out of the house with him inside. You will also always want to have him in a harness when you do take him out. We have one and it will go with him to his new home. He is like a hyper child. If you give him lots of attention and exercise, he will not be a problem for you. When he's under worked and bored...that's when the problems arise. He's not a 'problem' dog at all, he's just a perfect example of his breed. We have had a lot of fun with him...it's a shame we are unable to keep him. I really do think he will bring the right family a lot of joy. UPD: 7/30/07 Murray has been adopted! :)

Info	Meet our Angel. This girl is still very puppylike in her behaviour, but has come a long way. She will need a firm owner who preferably works from home. Angel is high-energy typical for a husky when excited. She is super duper smart(likes to sit in chairs), but submissive when corrected. Highly food motivated;has come a long way in guarding food/toys. Angel never met a stuffie who didn't deserve a good de-stuffing. Angel LOVES respectful kids who give her time to get to know them. She's doing fine with an infant, but will need to be supervised with small children due to her enthusiasm. Angel is stilling learning how to doggy socialize. She tends to get bossy and nippy especially if food/treats are around. But she loves to play and run with dogs once she feels comfortable. She does fine with like size or bigger dogs, but could be too intimidating for smaller dogs. She will get defensive if faced with a dog who scares her. This is possibly due to her extended stay at the shelter. She's vocal with a growly wooo especially first thing in the am and will growl/raise her lips when she feels threatened. Its more defensive posturing versus aggressive behaviour. Angel would probably be fine as the only dog in the home as long as she got adequate exercise and someone who was home most of the time. She's very loving and affectionate and loves to cuddle in your lap endlessly. Angel's doing well with the housetraining, but has been outdoors mostly. Angel is a great looking, show-quality Siberian Husky who will thrive in a stable, firm environment who understands the needs of this high-power/energy breed. Info	Meet the most darling duo we've seen in a while. This is Omni & Mimi, two beautiful red/white blue-eyed huskies currently at the Chula Vista shelter on Beyer Blvd. They are both very sweet and loving. Both sit on command for treats and Mimi will shake your hand on command. They are a bonded pair that we'd like to see place together if possible. However, they both are desperately in need of homes and can be separated if necessary.
